What it is
The studio's second product of its own, alongside RocketDJ. A host who already owns thousands of karaoke files has nothing to convert and no catalogue to rent: the player reads the formats as they are, indexes the library once, and runs the whole evening off the laptop — the words on the room's screen, the queue and the archive on the console, requests arriving from the phones in the room.
What we built
- Reads the formats as they are: KaraFun KFN with its words and syllable timing, CD+G with its pictures, EMZ and LRC with their words, MP4 and AVI with video, and plain audio
- Indexes the host's own folder once — one host's index holds more than 50,000 songs, and a search in it answers in about twenty milliseconds
- The words on the room's screen, or on several screens, the line lit in time with the song; video behind them from the host's folder or out of the file itself
- Key and tempo change while the song plays, and a file's own tracks — instrumental, guide vocal — each get their own level
- The microphone goes into the same output as the music: gate, echo, reverb, a level meter, and a switch that turns it off in the room
- Singer rotation with two orders of turns, or one playlist instead, duets, and an undo for a song removed by mistake
- An archive across nights: who came, what they sang, in which key
- Requests from the phones in the room: a guest scans the QR code on the wall, the host accepts or declines, the guest sees the answer — over the venue's Wi-Fi, or through the studio's server when requests through the internet are on
- Background music from the host's folder between singers, going quiet when a song starts
- An evening does not depend on an internet connection
- Free for one singer and one screen; hosting an evening takes the licence, with five trial evenings to start
